Bethlehem Children's Center

Complete redesign for this non-profit school streamlines information and enrollment processes for both parents and staff, enhanced by Brightwheel, a school management system. The design also integrates with a CMS, enabling admin staff to easily update the site as needed.

Designed by me, developed by Alex Nitta at Woodshed.

Rebrand

To better serve its community, the site was rebranded to align more closely with the local Lutheran church and connect with tech and legal professionals raising families in the area. I gave the logo’s ‘e’ a subtle upward tilt to introduce a warmer, more optimistic feel. The blue and gold color palette was chosen to evoke calm, trust, and approachability, while also reflecting the tone and surroundings of the school’s physical environment—strengthening both emotional connection and long-term engagement.

Information access

The redesign included a full reorganization of the site’s navigation, significantly improving content accessibility for both users and administrators. I created a set of custom templates to ensure a clean, consistent layout while making it easy for school staff to manage updates in the CMS—streamlining both the user experience and day-to-day site maintenance.

Mobile–first

Otters

Both enrolled and prospective parents need quick access to the site at all times, so breakpoints for desktop through mobile were given thorough consideration.

Learnings

Alignment

I learned the value of early stakeholder alignment — it saved us time later in the dev phase and helped avoid unnecessary revisions.

Design for growth

Next time, I’d design with greater flexibility from the start — building patterns that scale easily as content grows and needs evolve.

Modular

This project reinforced the value of modular templates — they streamlined the design process and provided a solid foundation for efficient development.
